Background: | Within PICA’s continuous efforts to realize the 2030 agenda, particularly promoting good health and well-being, the agency’s orthopedic program remains the most prolific. PICA’s orthopedic program seeks to build upon its success by cooperating with new partners, such as Mozambique Ministry of Health and Maputo Central Hospital. | |
Purpose: | This program aims at establishing a pediatric spinal unit in Maputo Central Hospital to perform as a center for capacity building on both the local and regional levels; it will also play an important role in supporting the health sector in Mozambique by providing a local team fully trained and capable of performing sensitive pediatric spinal cord surgeries. | |
Outputs: | 1. Performed 30 pediatric spinal surgeries. 2. Fully trained a medical team, now capable of performing sensitive pediatric spinal cord surgeries. | |
Activities: | This program is divided into 3 missions, 15 days each, and four Palestinian experts who will perform surgeries and build capacities in Maputo Central Hospital. | |
