The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) and Its Japanese Counterpart (JICA) agreed to move forward with a Strategic Partnership that reflects their common interests

Through an agreement on proposals for action that include a number of activities and joint programs, both PICA and JICA agreed today on their strategic partnership that will be translated into concrete actions in the very near future once concept notes and proposals are prepared, communicated, discussed and agreed between the parties.

These joint programs and activities are to be implemented within a specific spatial and temporal framework that serve common goals of both agencies and countries.

This discussion that revolved around future cooperation programs came during a meeting between PICA Director General, Imad Al-Zuhairi, and JICA representative, Mr. Toshiappi, on Wednesday at PICA HQ.

Mr. Imad Al-Zuhairi briefed Mr. Toshiappi on the nature of PICA work, its objectives and activities in relation to the use of Palestinian expertise from inside the occupied territories of the State of Palestine and from the diaspora to implement bilateral, trilateral and multilateral projects within the framework of South-South cooperation. Al-Zuhairi also presented the most important projects implemented by PICA in a number of African and Latin American countries in the fields of agriculture, health, environment, education, energy and others.

The meeting was attended by PICA program officer/third secretary, Sherine Al-Far, and program officer at JICA, Nawras Mansour.

PICA expresses appreciation for all the support JICA is providing to Palestine.
