| Background: | The capacity-building mission targeted the Zimbabwean broadcasting corporation (ZBC), and was conducted through a six-day specialized courses provided by three Palestinian media experts to improve the performance of the editorial and technical aspects of ZBC staff. | |
| Purpose: | The training identified the challenges facing the ZBC, and provides a set of in-principle recommendations on TV production and digital media basics starting with newsgathering and news writing fundamentals, and ending up with writing to pictures, production process, and producing a full news bulletin. | |
| Outputs: | The total number of participants/trainees was doubled during the training course from 45 to 114. Participants/trainees included senior executives and news editors who attended all sessions and participated in all activities and exercises; including ice-breaking and energizing exercises. There was immediate feedback by participants/ trainees after each session that showed the positive outcome of that session. Participants/ Trainees used our exact words and terminology at the closure ceremony to emphasize their commitment to strictly implement all new skills they have learned during our intensive training course. | |

Live reporting simulations, which were recorded and critiqued in real time. Interview simulations, which were recorded and critiqued in real time. A daily morning editorial meeting to discuss what is in news and decide what stories to cover for each media channel so the station can immediately benefit from the training outcomes and participants wont loose interest.
