Tunis-Palestine collaboration advances livestock reproductive biotechnology

A collaborative initiative between PICA and Tunisia has made significant strides in livestock reproductive biotechnology, with a focus on enhancing self-sufficiency in Tunisia’s agriculture sector. Partnering with the National Institute of Agriculture Research of Tunisia (INRAT), the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Maritime Fisheries, and the Sidi Thabet Livestock & Pasture Office, the project aims to produce frozen ram semen using advanced protocols. Over three intensive training days, participants mastered techniques for preparing Indonesian diluents for 24-hour and 48-hour protocols. The project achieved a 40-45% success rate—surpassing global standards—demonstrating its effectiveness in producing high-quality frozen semen to meet Tunisia’s agricultural needs.
