Background: | PICA launched agricultural cooperation programs in El Salvador in 2019 in more than 10 fields and now is focusing on fields of veterinary and lab services, livestock improvement, Aquaponics, greenhouses management and vegetable production. All these programs are strategic to transfer the knowledge to the maximum number of agricultural engineers, veterinarians, and agricultural entrepreneurs in the widest geographical location possible. | |
Purpose: | increase productivity, profitability, and improved nutrition and contribute to food security while complying with El Salvador national agricultural strategies, needs and gaps. | |
Outputs: | 1- Transfer the relevant knowledge to more than 88 this time, and the overall became 188 Agricultural engineers, veterinarians and agricultural entrepreneurs. (Total) 2- Institutionalize some agricultural services and contribute to Salvadoran agricultural strategies to transfer the knowledge to their staff, which are now adopted nationally in programs and projects. 3- More than 200 aquaponics units (individual and NFT) established in different agricultural institutions. 4- Rehabilitate and coach labs staff ( 15 agricultural engineers and veterinarians) including the central lab and some other national labs 5- More 800 artificial insemination trial were made after starting our cooperation | |
Activities: | 1- Four agricultural programs with more than 50 credit hours that trained more than 88 2- Establish prototypes and educational units for greenhouses and aquaponics (15+) 3- distribute tools, gadgets and equipment for breeds improvement units and veterinarian labs (50+) 4- meetings and prospects to launch triangular cooperation with international organizations in the different fields | |
