With the aim of strengthening ties between Palestine and Mauritania, and enhancing respectful engagement of Palestine towards Mauritania, the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) led its first technical mission to Mauritania in November 2016. In close cooperation with Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), PICA dispatched a Palestinian Technical Expert Team to Mauritania, to start the implementation of development cooperation project between both countries Palestine and Mauritania as well as to start the implementation of the “Solidarity through Development in Africa” program.
The team consisted of six agricultural engineers, eleven doctors, one renewable energy expert.
Over a period of twelve days, full of dedication, enthusiasm and hard work, the Palestinian team, crossed thousands of miles to show solidarity. The medical team conducted more than 109 surgeries and 1061 medical examinations, while the engineers passed on the knowledge of economic empowerment in the field of agriculture through introducing modern methods of planting and irrigation.
