Headed by its Director General, Imad Al-Zuhairi, a delegation from PICA met with H.E. Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Ishaq Sider, and his team at the HQ of the Ministry of Communications to discuss potential for joint cooperation.
H.E Dr. Ishaq Sider praised the great achievements of PICA since its establishment. Minister Sider stressed the need to establish a strong national partnership base to complete PICA efforts in terms of strengthening its strategic partnerships at the national level to serve the development plans and the interests of local, regional and international partners.
The partnership between both institutions intends to support PICA in order to implement programs and activities within the framework of International Development Agenda 2030 using Palestinian expertise.
In the same context, H.E Dr. Sider stated that his Ministry includes highly qualified experts in the fields of communications and information technology as well as fully equipped technical centers.Thus, PICA can entirely benefit from these resources in its future development projects.
PICA Director General Imad Al -Zuhairi expressed his pride in the highly qualified engineers and technicians in the field of information technology, and affirmed the importance of including such experts in PICA missions to provide support within the areas of their specialization for countries in need. He stressed on the importance of the private sector and its role in supporting the efforts of the Ministry and PICA in promoting the identity of Palestine internationally.
Both parties agreed on a number of short-term and long-term steps, to be adopted using the Palestinian expertise in the field of information technology and to carry out the development missions led by the Agency abroad. Both parties also agreed on various areas of development cooperation to be jointly implemented, particularly in Africa and Latin America.
The meeting was attended by program officers, Bashar Al-Sorri, Duha Dwaik, Mahmoud Erekat, Nour Abdelrahim and Lamar Kirresh in addition to senior officials from the MoTIT.
