The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) Along with its Partner Birzeit University (BZU) discuss modalities to implement Academic Cooperation Programs With the Government of Tunisia

PICA and BZU held an important meeting with the Ambassador of Tunisia to the State of Palestine, H.E. Mr. Habib Ben Farah, to discuss the modalities of implementation of a number of programs and activities aiming at enhancing the academic cooperation between the two countries, in particular, through a cooperation agreement that will be signed, under the auspices of PICA, between BZU and the University of Sfax.

PICA Director General, Imad Al-Zuhairi, reaffirmed the importance of such programs that are considered as a practical translation for the historical relations between both countries on official and popular levels. Al-Zuhairi also stated that PICA is fully ready to strengthen strategic partnerships between Palestinian academic institutions and Tunisian ones in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Higher Education regarding public universities and in line with the interests of independent and national universities. Such programs are important in realizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), since these institutions have high academic competencies on the international and Arab levels.

The Dean of Students Affairs at BZU, Dr. Mohamed Al-Ahmed, stressed the importance of the agreement, which will be signed soon, and aiming at establishing cooperation between the two universities in different fields of common interest.

H.E.Ambassador Farah welcomed the delegation and expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation that includes academics and students from both countries.

Ambassador Farah also stated that the Tunisian government is ready to provide all necessary support for completing this cooperation which will achieve the desired objectives for both parties, praising cooperation with Palestinian institutions in different fields. Ambassador Farah considered the cooperation as a practical and concrete translation and reflection to the strong relations and solidarity that exist between the two countries and peoples.

The meeting was attended by Diplomat Attache from PICA, Khaled Abu Qare, Diplomat Attache, Lamar Kirresh, and Ahmad Atari from BZU.
