2019 – PICA Renewable Energy Program in Kenya

Background: The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency is in the process of strengthening its development programs in Africa in line with its strategy and plans in the areas of development and vitality, including the sectors of health, agriculture and energy, in accordance with the instructions of President Mahmoud Abbas to exert all possible efforts through the resources of the State of Palestine to enable and develop cooperation with African countries in the areas of development through which the State of Palestine can share its expertise and knowledge and provide technical support.
Purpose: Providing solar energy systems to generate electricity and provide water for more than 350 children.
Outputs: 1. Five schools lightened. 2. Field survey conducted. 3. Consultations of design and preparation of tenders, follow-up, supervision and operation in partnership with Austrian donors.
Activities: 1. Conducted measurements, field survey and energy audit for the school. 2. Designed three solar systems, one of which is pumping water, the other to supply electricity and the third to heat water. 3. Prepared project tender documents including schedules of quantities, prices, necessary drawings, and administrative and tax procedures. 4. Conducted meetings with service providers and project parties involved. 5. Identified other needs of the school for future missions.
Working Framework: Realizing Goal 7 of Affordable and Clean Energy in accordance with the 2030 Agenda.
