2019 – PICA Agricultural Program in Bangladesh

Background: With the aim of providing development assistance and technical support in the field of Agriculture, and further to the expressed need from the Bangladesh’s side, a delegation of technical experts in the field of land, soil and plant protection was dispatched to Bangladesh to carry out a program of cooperation.
Purpose: Assisting in the Agricultural Development of Bangladesh.
Outputs: 1. Consolidating the Palestinian Bangladeshi historical relationships. 2. On a more technical level: creating training programs for farm management (especially post- harvest, soil, and irrigation)
Activities: 1. Agricultural product Market visits. 2. Visiting the Institute of Agricultural Research in Gazipur province, and meeting with the Director General and staff of the Institute. 3. Presentation on the reality of the agricultural sector in Palestine: challenges and opportunities. 4. Visiting the Hydroponic Laboratory, Soil Laboratory, and tissue culture laboratory. 5. Visiting the Rice Research Institute, and meeting with the Director General of the Institute. 6. Visiting the Jute Research Institute, and meeting with the Director General of the Institute. 7. Visiting the seed bank. 8. Visiting farmers in the fields to learn more about the problems and obstacles facing the agricultural sector.
