In line with PICA’s vision to enhance South-South cooperation, Palestine and Mauritania are partners in agricultural development program supported by the Islamic Development Bank

The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency concluded a joint mission to Mauritania in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, and in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank, the mission aims at transferring Palestinian knowledge and experience to Mauritania through the use of Palestine’s experience in developing the vegetable production chain in Mauritania.

Palestine’s development mission to Mauritania aimed at diagnosing the situation of the agricultural sector in general and the vegetable production chain in particular, in order to design a capacity development program for all the stakeholders in the value chain of vegetables in Rosso. The program depends on the transfer of distinguished Palestinian expertise to enhance the contribution of the agricultural sector in the national income and help ensuring food security in Mauritania.

PICA was represented by Third Secretary, Dima Al-Arqan, expert in development cooperation, scanning needs, participatory planning and capacity development.

During the mission, the Palestinian delegation held in Rosso several consultative meetings with all Mauritanian partners, stakeholders and influencers in the area of development of vegetable chains.

Such meetings included also the Public Investment and Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency expresses its utmost appreciation to the Islamic Development Bank for supporting the South-South cooperation program from the State of Palestine to Mauritania, which will enable Palestine to enhance development cooperation and promote its status on the international map, the program will also help developing the agricultural sector in Mauritania and will reinforce South South cooperation programs and the Reverse Linkage mechanism of the Islamic Development Bank to achieve the desired objectives.

PICA is looking forward to realize further development goals through cooperation and the transfer of knowledge between the countries of the South, the fact that reflects the contribution of the State of Palestine to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
