PICA implements a development program in the Kingdom of Lesotho as part of its continuous efforts to strengthen ties of cooperation with the African Continent

Maseru – The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) has started implementing its first telecommunication development program in the Kingdom of Lesotho in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in South Africa, the Ministry of Communication and Information in the Kingdom of Lesotho and independent Palestinian experts. This program consists of building capacities in the fields of information security, e-governance and domain systems to support the government’s efforts in enabling its employees to deal with the growing challenges in the world of technology.

The Director General of PICA, Imad Al-Zuhairi, stated that this program comes in accordance with the guidance of President Mahmoud Abbas to strengthen ties of cooperation with the countries of the African continent due to the historical ties between Palestine and our friends in Africa. He also added that PICA’s programs in Africa expanded to include the field of communications in line with its strategy to promote South-South cooperation as the State of Palestine is a key and an active partner in contributing to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through its bilateral and Triangular programs that contribute to SSC.

PICA will continue implementing development programs in Africa by using Palestinian expertise in this field, it is also very important to mention that Palestinian experts in the field of communication are now competing to work in the best international companies specialized in communications and information systems.

This training program will last for one week and aims at training more than 80 employees from 24 different ministries working in the information systems departments, which enhances the collective performance of the government agencies involved in this training and enables them to achieve their objectives.

A delegation consisting of First Secretary Hassouna Al-Dreemly from the Embassy of the State of Palestine in South Africa, Diplomatic Attaché Khaled Abu Qare’ from PICA, Dr. Ahmed Al-Dabbani, Salim Zoghbi expert in the field of e-governance and Mahmoud Younis from the Palestinian Ministry of Communications will participate in this mission.
