2022 – Palestinian Relief Mission to Pakistan

Background: On June 14, 2022, catastrophic floods hit Pakistan, causing thousands of casualties and leaving millions homeless. H.E. President Mahmoud Abbas gave instructions to deploy the Palestinian Rapid Response & Rescue Team (PRRRT) to support the relief efforts of the competent authorities in Pakistan. Therefore, PICA, the coordinator of the PRRRT, took action to deploy a team of 23 members, immediately. The delegation consists of doctors, paramedics and civil defense specialists.  
Purpose: The mission aimed at supporting the efforts of the health authorities in Dera Ismail Khan, one of the main provinces affected by the floods in Pakistan. Mitigating the impact of the floods on the residents in that area through providing medical support to those affected.  
Outputs: 1- Conducting medical examinations for around 3000 patients.
2- Providing medical treatment & pharmaceutical drugs to the patients.
3- Organizing psychosocial support activities for around 500 children.
4- Distributed tens of food parcels to highly affected families by the floods. 
Activities: 1- Participating in a press conference to launch the mission.
2- Conducting 4 medical camps in different towns affected by the floods.
3- Conducting meetings with Pakistani officials to discuss further programs. 
Working Framework: Humanitarian and Relief Program/Bilateral Cooperation.
