2023 – PICA’s Third Phase Medical Program in Saint Vincent & The Grenadines

Background: PICA’s began its Third phase of the development cooperation program in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This program came as a result of the cooperation agreements signed between the parties in 2017, and as a contribution to promote the global SDGs. In full cooperation with The MOH in Palestine & Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in both Countries, The Palestinian Embassy to the Caribbean, The Palestinian Medical Association-Jerusalem Center, and The Official Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation PBC.
Purpose: Aiming to Achieve UN SDG3 through a collaborative effort targeting the promotion of well-being in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Activities & Outputs: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has a long-standing and unwavering solidarity with, and commitment to, the just and legitimate aspirations of the people of Palestine for the exercise of their right to self-determination, and to achieve a homeland of their own; independent, free, prosperous and at peace. We look forward to a great partnership, and continued collaboration with SVG on health, education, communication, information technology, environment, agriculture, and other fields of common interest. We aim to focus on ways both SVG and Palestine can work together on mutual issues of importance and strengthening the bonds of friendship with SVG.
On the sidelines of the mission, The Palestinian Official Delegation met with
– The Honorable Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.
– The Honorable St. Clair Prince, Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment.
– H.E. Ms. Keisal Melissa Peters, Minister for Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade.
– Medical Director at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), Dr. Charles Woods.
The total number of Surgeries are 44 surgeries; more than 250 patients were screened and evaluated.  
Working Framework: Humanitarian Medical Mission. These efforts are closely linked to sustaining, and achieving SDG3. PICA’s upcoming missions will be covering five main health systems components: health enhancing, pharmaceuticals, health information systems, human resources for health, and service delivery.
