Background: | As part of PICA’s development strategy in the Republic of Guinea, and as a second phase of the medical program that started in the country in 2019, PICA implements the first corneal transplantation program in the history of the Republic of Guinea. A specialized medical team performed transplant operations for 19 patients at the International Clinic in Conakry. The mission also included holding a scientific medical conference for corneal transplantation, which was attended by a number of Arab ministers, ambassadors, and Guinean doctors, and the medical team organized a medical day that included theoretical lectures on cornea transplantation. | |
Purpose: | 1. The implementation of the first-time corneal transplant program in the Republic of Guinea. 2. Enhance bilateral relations between the State of Palestine and the Republic of Guinea. 3. Convey a message of solidarity from the Palestinian people. | |
Outputs: | 1. Transplantation of 19 corneas for Guinean patients. 2. Building the capacities of Guinean doctors practically in this field through their presence in operations. 3. Holding a medical conference, which had a role in introducing PICA and its fields of work. 4. Discussing the horizon of future cooperation by meeting with a number of ministers to define goals and priorities. | |
