2016 – Medical Program in Mauritania

Background: Within the framework of creating bridges of sincere and genuine relations between the Palestinian people and the people of Mauritania, and in accordance with the priorities set by Arab-Africa summits and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, a program was designed to support the health sector in Mauritania by providing specialized doctors in many fields to train and help physicians in Mauritania deliver medical treatment. This program aims at showing solidarity with the people of Mauritania as well as reaching out to our friends in Africa.
Purpose: This Program aims at increasing the capacities and skills of the physicians in Mauritania under the concept of South-South cooperation.
Outputs: 11 trained doctors from various disciplines including general surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, obstetrics, urology and otolaryngology.
Activities: 12 days of continuous work by the Palestinian delegation to perform: 1. 109 surgeries (8-10 per day) 2. 1061 medical examinations (80-90 per day)
