2016 – PICA Energy Program in Mauritania

Background: Within the framework of creating bridges of sincere and genuine relations between the Palestinian people and the people of Mauritania, and in accordance with the priorities set by Arab-Africa summits and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, a program was designed to support the Energy sector in Mauritania by providing a specialized engineer in the area of energy, environment and solar panels. This program aims at showing solidarity with the people of Mauritania as well as reaching out to our friends in Africa.
Purpose: This Program aims at increasing the capacities and skills of engineers working at Nouakchott Solar Power Station in Mauritania under the concept of South-South cooperation.
Outputs: The Palestinian engineer visited the Ministry of Energy, Oil and Solar Power Station in Nouakchott to evaluate the performance of the plant, and gave lectures for local engineers on ways of managing and maintaining the Solar Power station and producing clean energy through wind and solar energy. In parallel, a report was prepared by the Palestinian expert to treat the problems in the Station with recommendations on how to Increase the production of clean energy in Nouakchott.
