2019 – PICA Medical Program in Botswana

Background: 
Purpose: This mission aimed at supporting, enhancing and strengthening the capabilities of Botswana’s medical staff in different fields of emergency, trauma and burns.
Outputs: The Palestinian doctors provided a specialized training in the fields of emergency, vascular and burn care, for two separate groups consisting of 12 doctors and 25 nurses and medical emergency technicians.
Activities: 1. Providing specialized training in the vascular field such as Anatomy of the arterial and venous systems, acute ischemia, arterial hypertrophy, venous thromboembolism and more. 2. Providing specialized training in the emergency field such as Chest, abdomen, head neck, back, pelvic and limb trauma, and more. 3. Providing specialized training in the burn-care field such as treatment and care of basic burns, preliminary examinations, assessment, classification and treatment of burn injuries, and more.
Working Framework: Promotion of South-South Cooperation, strengthening relations between Palestine and Botswana.
