Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Palestine and Botswana in 2017, PICA Implements its first Bilateral Program in Gaborone

Gaborone / Botswana
Under the directions of H.E. President Mahmoud Abbas, PICA completes its first development program in the health sector, pertaining to areas of emergency, burns, vascular care and trauma prevention, to enhance capacities of emergency personnel of the Ministry of Health and its institutions in a frame of a joint capacity building program. The first program was realized in full cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
PICA Director General, Imad Al-Zuhairi, stated that this program is the first of its kind since establishing diplomatic relations between the State of Palestine and Botswana in 2017. During the seven days of intensive training activities, specialized Palestinian doctors shared theoretical and practical knowledge with dozens of doctors, nurses and emergency personnel of the Ministry of Health of Botswana. The program also provided an opportunity to learn about Botswana’s experience in the field of emergencies, particularly Al-Zuhairi added.
The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Botswana, Taghreed Sonwar, expressed its aspiration to include other areas of cooperation based on the exchange of experience for the benefit of the two peoples, taking into consideration that Botswana supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people based on the international law and the two-state solution.
It is worth mentioning that the results of the program were assessed during meetings held between the Palestinian delegation which also included the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to South Africa, Hashem Dajani, and the officials from the Ministry of Health of Botswana.
PICA is committed to strengthen bilateral relations with Botswana and to launch new development programs in health, agriculture and other areas of cooperation for the benefit of both friendly countries and peoples.
