PICA Participates in the Launching of IsDB Publication: Developing National Ecosystems for South-South and Triangular Cooperation to Achieve Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development

On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, an important publication on the development of the national ecosystems for South-South and triangular cooperation was launched at the UN Headquarters today.

The publication reflects mechanisms of cooperation based on solidarity through development to contribute to the implementation of the UN 2030 SDGs. PICA Director General, Imad Al-Zuhairi, representing the State of Palestine delivered a statement during the launching ceremony, and stated that: following up on the implementation of the outputs of BAPA+40 conference held last March in Argentina, the international community needs to work collectively in order to ensure the most appropriate outcome for North-South cooperation while implementing SDGs.

The conference included an interactive panel discussion in which DGs of the participated international cooperation agencies TCR’s highlighted the challenges they face, the opportunities they have and the available possibilities to enhance cooperation, while taking into consideration the increasing capabilities of the countries of the South to face challenges, seize opportunities and provide specialized human resources, funding and technical assistance.

The conference resulted in reinforcing partnerships and institutional measures between partners geographically and thematically, particularly in a context were growing demands for development interventions are facilitated by the IsDB to develop national ecosystems when dealing with issues of trilateral cooperation nature.

The side event was attended by senior personalities from IsDB including H.E. Dr. Bandar Hajar, president of the IsDb Group, TCR’s, UN organizations and specialized Agencies.
