PICA completes a specialized training on psychosocial support for members of PRRRT

The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) concluded today a three days training program on psychosocial support for the members of the Palestinian Rapid Response and Rescue Team (PRRRT) with an aim to building and enhancing the capacities of the members of the team. Doctors from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, paramedics and nurses from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and members of the Palestinian Civil Defense participated in the program.

The three-days training, was delivered by specialized trainers from PCPM to build the capacities of local ambulance staff, paramedics and emergency personnel, in addition to developing their skills and to enhancing their effectiveness in crisis situations and overcoming fear and feelings of anxiety so that medical personnel can better deal with the casualties properly.

The training consisted of theoretical and practical aspects of how to breathe properly, support colleagues and peers in crises, improve communication with people in the ER and ambulances, as well as to provide insights on crisis management procedures dealing with injuries and traumas during emergencies.

Within the same context, PICA held an expanded technical meeting with national and Polish partners, in the presence of the Polish Ambassador to the State of Palestine, H.E. Mr. Przemyslaw Czyz and a delegation from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visiting Palestine to assess the various projects financed by Poland and implemented by the Polish Center for International Aid.

The Polish Ambassador and delegation had an important exchange with representatives of the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Firas Al-Atrash Director General of Control, and Dr. Mustafa Al-Qawasmi, Director General of Ambulance and Emergency, and representatives of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Ghoula, Director of Ambulance and Emergency and Rasha Bakir, who explained the cooperation between with Polish Center for International Aid and also discussed training programs to be implemented during the coming period.

Director General of PICA, Imad Al-Zuhairi, welcomed Ambassador Mr. Przemyslaw Czyz and his accompanying delegation, stressing the importance of cooperation between the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency, the Representative Office of Poland and the Polish Center for International Aid.

Al-Zuhairi stated that since 2017, PICA started its cooperation with Poland through the implementation of many important programs, one of which is to support the Palestinian Rapid Response and Rescue Team’s ability to intervene and respond in urgent situations.

Al-Zuhairi also stressed the need for the implementation of new bilateral and triangular programs during the year 2020.

His Excellency Mr. Przemyslaw Czyz expressed his satisfaction and contentment for the great accomplishments achieved by PICA in a short period of time, stressing that Poland will continue its support to the State of Palestine, through its various programs, especially those implemented by the Polish Center for International Aid aimed at building the capabilities of the Palestinian personnel in the health sector, and improve the access to health care services.
