2023 – PICA’s Relief Mission to Syria

Outputs: 1. Purchase and distribution of 500 mattresses and 500 covers for shelters in Aleppo and Lattakia.
2. Participation in the distribution and storage of 5,000 special food parcels in the Neirab camp.
3. The psychological support group, with the support of the ambulance officers of the Society and the Red Crescent, Syria Branch, implemented the following:
• Psychological support activities for affected children in the framework of alleviating their suffering, number of beneficiaries reached 1140 children.
• Psychological support activities workers, employees and volunteers in different associations, number of beneficiaries 30.
• Carrying out individual sessions for 12 affected people.
• Carrying out psychological relief activities for 120 families.
• Providing medical treatment to hundreds of patients in shelters and Aleppo University Hospital, and providing emergency services in shelters and other medical points.
• Providing first aid for emergency cases and working on the ambulances’ lip system.
• Dispensing medicines to patients in medical clinics and shelters, in addition to donating blood pressure and diabetes devices.
• The number of patients that have been dealt with (117).
Activities: • Participation in search and rescue operations (Civil Defense staff).
• Participation in medical support, ambulance and emergency (Red Crescent staff).
• Participation in organizing mental health programs for children and families in camps for the displaced (Red Crescent staff).
• Providing medical services to some patients in shelters (Doctors of the Ministry of Health).
• Participating in organizing mental health programs for children in refugee centers in Neirab camp and Handarat camp, and holding a group of psychological screening sessions for refugees from Yarmouk, in addition to operating medical points for primary health care in all shelter centers, and distributing a number of mattresses and blankets. (The staff of the Red Crescent and the Ministry of Health).
• The medical delegation, consisting of 9 doctors from the Ministry of Health, were devoted to serve in Aleppo University Hospital, where it led dozens of delicate operations, in addition to dozens of surgeries in the fields of orthopedics, gynecology, obstetrics, neurosciences, and others.
