2019 – PICA Media Program in Côte d’Ivoire

Background: In December 2018, PICA implemented a medical mission in Cote D’Ivoire and during this mission; several meetings were conducted with different Ministries to assess their needs for future capacity building programs. Later on, the Ivorian Ministry of Telecommunications and Media requested a capacity-building program in the field of media for radio staff working in rural areas. As a result, PICA decided to deploy a mission to respond to this request.
Purpose: This mission aimed at supporting the ongoing efforts of the Ivorian Government to empower radio staff working in rural areas and to improve their skills and knowledge to respond to the challenges they face on a professional level.
Outputs: Provided a capacity-building program in the field of media for 40 employees from different cities in Cote D’Ivoire working with different radio agencies in rural areas.
Activities: The attendees of this program were provided with intense lectures about interview techniques, importance of body language, brief about the media field in Palestine and other important topics. They were also provided with practical sessions to implement the theoretical knowledge they learned in radio studios using different equipment.
Working Framework: South-South cooperation to enhance bilateral relations.
